The Little Coach with Big Dreams

A heartwarming Hawaiian children’s story about imagination, courage, and believing in yourself.

On the beautiful Waianae Coast of Hawaiʻi, eight-year-old Kaleo Nāone loves football more than anything. He’s not the biggest player on the field and he’s not the fastest—but Kaleo has something special: a Playbook of Dreams filled with ideas, drawings, and plays only he can imagine.

When Kaleo shares his playbook with his coach, he’s told to “leave the plays to the grown-ups.” But with encouragement from his Aunty Lehua and a belief in his own creativity, Kaleo decides to prove that even the smallest player can make a big difference.

Through teamwork, courage, and a little Hawaiian magic, Kaleo’s ideas take shape on the field—leading to a championship moment no one sees coming. His story shows young readers that dreams grow strongest when we believe in them…and when we share them with others.
