A story of woodland creatures discovering a lost doll is transformed into the perfect parable of love in this sweet, timeless picture book for fans of Corduroy and The Velveteen Rabbit.
The wood mouse and the rabbit find a rag doll in the woods. Nothing about it is familiar: it doesn't smell like the fresh air of spring or feel like the rough bark of a tree. As the group of animals grows and searches for a clue to where the doll came from, they encounter more mysteries—and discover the one thing their hearts know to be true.
Whether between parent and child, siblings, or friends, this beautifully illustrated story is about the way we show one other how much we care.
What happens when a group of curious forest animals finds something they don’t understand?
- A Gentle Forest Mystery: A mouse, a rabbit, an otter, and their friends team up to solve the puzzle of a strange, soft creature who doesn’t belong in the woods.
- The Meaning of Love: Without a word, the animals discover what affection and care truly mean by watching a child hug her precious doll goodnight.
- An Unlikely Adventure: Follow the animals as they bravely leave their forest home for the first time on a quest to return a lost treasure.
- A Perfect Bedtime Story: With a sweet, gentle rhythm and lush illustrations, this picture book is made for snuggling up and reading aloud before sleep.
