After witnessing his mothers emotions against his father he watches and tries to understand. Val then walks to go to a yacht party which his parents want him to go to but then is steered into the yacht next to the party yacht because there is this very pretty lonely seventeen year old girl in it. That night they were very flirty,said they loved each other, and did some sexual things, even though they never know each others name and the girl also is married. Later her sixty year old husband gets on the boat after Val leaves, the girl and him go to America. After the war takes place, Val has problems with leadership and so he moves to America. In America, Val becomes a taxi driver. On his yearly vacation he runs into the same girl he met on the yacht, when he was seventeen. They get married.
