Focusing on the critical opportunities and challenges, this new text serves as an analysis of the role of the visitor economy as a driver for sustainable and inclusive regional, social and economic development. It is, in both format and focus, distinctly different, inviting scholars, students, industry leaders, policy makers and related national institutes to collaborate, considering disciplinary perspectives, such as the management of stakeholders, configuring public spaces, marketing, destination competitiveness and technology, before reviewing critical issues facing the industry, such as overtourism, well-being, the night time economy and accessibility. Keeping a practical, student-focus at its core, the book includes pedagogic features throughout to translate learning into practice and balances management perspectives with critical current issues salient for managers. In-depth and rigorous, Managing the Visitor Economy: Concepts, Collaborations and Cases forms a key resource for students, industry leaders and policy makers.
