Présentation de l'éditeur
This second edition was undertaken to include more than 100 new references relevant to test use and provide an extensive overview of the MMPI-A Structural Summary approach developed by the author to simplify and clarify the interpretation of this test instrument. It also presents essential facts and recommendations on the MMPI-A for those clinicians, students, and researchers interested in fully understanding and utilizing this assessment instrument.
The text reviews the reasons for the development of the MMPI-A and the salient features of this instrument including the validity, content, and supplementary scales and the MMPI-A Structural Summary Form. MMPI-A single scale and codetype correlates are furnished as well as clinical case examples which illustrate the most recent principles of MMPI-A interpretation. Throughout the text, emphasis is placed on presenting information in a manner that is of direct clinical relevance for the practitioner while also providing sufficient technical information and research data to serve as a guide for future researchers in this field.
Additional special features include:
* presentation of appropriate administration criteria for the MMPI-A;
* a review of the validity assessment process, including the role of the new MMPI-A validity scales;
* presentation of the MMPI-A Structural Summary form and clinical examples illustrating the use of this interpretive approach;
* a rich guide to correlates for individual MMPI-A scales and for a broad range of frequently occurring two-point codetypes;
* extensive and updated references to document the empirical foundations of the MMPI-A;
* numerous tables and figures providing guidelines for MMPI-A interpretation;
* a presentation of adolescent norms for the original MMPI, for the MMPI-A, and a specialized set of MMPI-A norms for 13-year olds;
* a T-score conversion table for basic MMPI-A scales permitting estimates of the Marks and Briggs (1967) T-score values;
* appendix materials listing all Lachar-Wrobel critical items and all Wiggins Content Scale items retained within the MMPI-A; and
* tabular examples of item content of all MMPI-A basic, content, and supplementary scales.
