A propos de cet article

"The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit" by Sloan Wilson, was a post-war novel that depicted the struggles of a war veteran to fit into the newly emerging corporate culture. The novel's protagonist, Tom Rath, had seen action in both fronts of the war, and suffers stoically from what is now recognized as PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) - it was not officially seen as such back then. The novel is also an early fictional depiction of the stultifying, spirit-numbing culture of corporate life. The novel takes place in Connecticut. There was a movie adaptation made in Hollywood, starring Gregory Peck as Rath and Jennifer Jones as his wife, with Fredric March, Lee J. Cobb, Keenan Wynn and Marisa Pavan in supporting roles. This is a handsome Reprint Society Edition, published in London in 1957. The book is bound in paper-covered boards with a leather title label on the spine, and has the easily recognizable generic dust-jacket used by The Reprint Society. INTERIOR -- Near-negligible foxing can be discerned along the fore-edges; no underlining or marginalia. A heraldic bookplate is affixed to the front paste-down; a neatly inked joint-signature, with date, is written on the front flyleaf. DUST-JACKET -- Nicking and small tears about the edges, especially at the spine panel extremities; spine panel is weathered and darkened; rear panel has scattered spotting, smudging and a touch of minute staining; The reverse side of the jacket is considerably toned. The jacket is protected from further wear by a clear, mylar cover.…
