A propos de cet article

Dark green binding with gold gilt in very good condition, with some fading and wear to the edges of the spine. Minor scratches on binding but mostly on the back, so generally very presentable. Almost no signs of wear to the interior with uncut pages and all text in very good condition and minimal foxing in the endpapers. The first endpaper contains a neat 1897 cutting from a newspaper, announcing the death of Mrs. Banks, and an 1899 cutting on a synopsis of her life and character read at the Manchester Literary Club. Also includes a short letter regarding a previous secretary, president, then librarian -by the name of Thomas Windsor- of the Manchester Medical Society, the collection to which the book used to belong, which was housed in the Medical School. Two pages after is a small note regarding a gift. All illustrations are clear with no wear at all. Seller Inventory #002466.

Description de la boutique

A small specialist bookseller with a passion for all aspects of the countryside, from farming to natural history, field sports and forestry. Particular fascination with all things to do with the history of the countryside. In searching for countryside gems, I often come across books wholly unrelated to my specialism and am always looking for great homes for these books. We are based in the Derbyshire Peak District and can source specialist books from this area. We also specialise in finding special books for gifts. So, if he special person in your life, or someone you would like to say thank you, has a particular interest and you have a budget, we can find a special book that means something to them. If they love birds and live in Kent, we will find something for you. If their passion is dairy cows, then we can find a book that tells the story of dairy farming in Britain. Working to a budget, we might be able to source a First Edition 'Origin of Species' (a big budget) or the biography of a pioneer in farming, natural history or field sports (a more modest budget). Because we know about books and are well networked, we can make an individual present special and meaningful.…
