A collection of 35 maritime stories which are reminiscences of the author's seafaring days starting in the early 1900's and are substantially true. Some have been previously published in the Eastern Daily Express. Stories include: In the Doldrums, The Black Sea Run, Black Diamonds, The Captain's Medical Guide, Neptune's Playmates, Sweethearts and Wives, Recollections of Salonica, A Christmas Cargo, Santa Claus at Santa Fe, Some V.I.P.'s, Sailor's Superstitions, A Sailor's Hobbies etc. 158 pp. Text very clean throughout. Binding sound. Blue hard paper boards with black cloth spine. Vignette of ship on front board. A few spots of light foxing on front board. Overall condition VG to VG+. In VG dust wrapper. Newspaper clipping from Daily Press June 10 1961 laid in concerning publication of this book, with photographs of author. Also letter from R. Beard to previous owner in relation to purchase of the book and his interest in stringed musical instruments.
