Poor condition. 160 pages. Hardcover: H 18.75cm x L 13.25cm. Spine leather perished with underlying paper backstrip exposed lengthwise as are quire tips at ends; boards heavily rubbed with edges worn particularly at corners. Joints/hinges weak with front board a bit tenuous and rear board pliable. Foxing, toning, staining, tears, and other edge-wear to leaves; pencil ownership inscription on front free endpaper with pencil signature on rear free endpaper. Scarce late nineteenth century-early twentieth century Mississippi bookseller purple ink stamp "Crowder & Edmunds, | Druggists | Kosciusko, - Miss." at center of front pastedown. Title page verso has copyright dates of 1879 and 1896 so the book is probably circa 1900 but no later than 1905 for pharmacist A.H. Crowder is listed as a solo practitioner in the 1906 edition of "The Era Druggists Directory of America.". N° de réf. du vendeur PXZP-16800

Hardcover. Hardcover, original blue and black paste-down pictorial boards (children with hoop and rabbits on front board, McGuffey's Revised Reading Charts on rear) , brown cloth spine, marbeled edges, 162 pp, nicely illustrated with black and white drawings of Victorian domestic scenes, country life, animals, natural history themes, etc. Good, no dustjacket, as issued. Corners bumped with a bit of cardboard exposed there and along edges of boards, two approximately 1/2 inch chips off paste-down on front board, and a 1/8th to 1/2 inch deep by 3 inch long chip off side edge of rear board, (text unaffected) , some foxing and scuffing. Internally, contemporary previous owner's sgn on first free front endpaper and a 1932 one on second free front endpaper, front and rear hinges cracked, some soil on endpapers, a few stray nicks and chips and bit of foxing, but otherwise tight, clean, relatively crisp and unmarked. Hardcover. Etat : Fair. No Jacket. This is the 1866 edition published by Wilson, Hinkle & Co (Cincinnati & New York). The leather has worn off of the cover, although there is still some leather on the spine. There is a small hole in the front board. There is some writing on the inside cover in pencil.
