Item description from seller

Original publisher's multicolored paper wrappers with a color illustration on the front cover by Peter Stevens of a woman in a pink bathing suit with pink flowers in her hair, who is holding an implement in her hand as she is shown awash in an ocean wave that manifests as six horses at its crest. Red, white, and yellow spine. 7" x 9 1/4." 130 pages, complete. Black-and-white illustrations, complete. Advertisements are interspersed throughout. Pages and covers are clean and intact overall. Pages are fragile and age-toned. Some chipping at the edges and spine with the largest measuring about 1/2" x 1 1/4" in upper-right corner of front cover. Faint dampstaining on front cover (but is most apparent on inside of cover and first page). Faint dampstaining appears throughout the rest of the magazine but is mostly limited to bottom margins. One small piece of tape at head of spine. A Good Copy. A. Merritt's Fantasy Magazine was a pulp fantasy magazine. The first issue appeared in December 1949. The magazine was named after the popular fantasy writer, A. Merritt, who had passed away in 1943. While the magazine's publisher, Popular Publications, had hoped to capitalize on the success of Merritt, only five issues of the magazine were published. The last issue of the magazine appeared in October 1950. This is the first issue that was published in December 1949. The following are in this issue: a feature book-length novel, "Creep, Shadow!," by A. Merritt; a "spine-chilling" short story, "Footsteps Invisible," by Robert Arthur; and two features, "Fantasy Quiz" and "Calling All Fantasy Fans!" by The Editor [facts about a well-known author].
