Professor Zahirul Hoque joined La Trobe University in the position of Chair in Accounting in 2006. His prior positions have included: Chair in Accounting in the School of Accounting, Economics and Finance of Deakin University in Geelong, Victoria, Australia (2005 - 2006); Professor and Head of School of Business, Charles Darwin University (formerly Northern Territory University), Australia (2003 - 2005).

Professor Hoque is on the CPA Australia Geelong Branch Council. His research interests include accounting and organizational change, management accounting, performance management, public sector accounting, and a general interest in the interdisciplinary research in organisational designs. He has published a number of articles, book chapters, two edited volumes and two books, namely Handbook of Cost and Management Accounting and Methodological Issues in Accounting Research (both published by Spiramus Press)
