Synopsis
The digital edition of all books may be viewed on our website before purchase. Written by Doctor Julia Seton Methods of Obtaining Success tackles the intentionally broad topic of achieving success. Seton was a prolific author of motivational and self-help books, publishing a series of books on topics such as marriage, money matter, and how to achieve health and happiness.
The book outlines the four "planes of expression" through which it is argued all humans express themselves. These planes are body, mind, soul, and spirit. This concept of planes and creating unity between them forms the crux of Seton's guidelines for obtaining success. Essentially, man must live a balanced life in order to be successful.
It should be noted that the author does rely on religious teachings regularly in Methods of Obtaining Success. Seton states, "Jesus said, "All that my Father hath is mine," but he also taught that this was only true when man became a good steward for his Father's supply." Thus, it is argued that living a spiritual life in adherence to the words of The Bible is an important aspect of obtaining success. Clearly, this argument will not appeal to all readers.
Methods of Obtaining Success can be an important read for those seeking a self-help book, and who are also followers of, or at least open to learning about, a Christian religion. Seton's words are definitive yet encouraging, and her voice may guide some on a path to achieving successes. However, the reliance on spirituality and religion may raise a red flag for some readers. With all of the motivational texts available today, there are certainly better options for individuals who are not interested in teachings reliant on religion and the words of The Bible.
