Octavo, 186pp. A very good copy in the publisher's grey cloth. Mild foxing and smudging to boards, spine gently cocked, else clean and sound. In a good or better dust jacket, with some chips and creases to the extremities, and light toning to the spine; still better than many of its peers. Sometimes mistaken for the second issue of the first edition, this is in fact a book club edition, with no price on the dust jacket (which is evenly corner-clipped on all four corners of the flaps). The Haddon Craftsmen are listed as the printers on the copyright page, which some people credit as an issue point indicative of the "first" book club edition.
