A propos de cet article

7" x 5"; 1 pages; A lovely sepia aquatint of The Middle Temple of the Inns of Court from Samuel Ireland's wonderful Picturesque Views, with an Historical Account of the Inns of Court, in London and Westminster; printed by C. Clarke and published By R. Faulder and J. Egerton. Image measures about 7" x 5" (14" x 11" matted). Matted in white stock with clear mylar. The history of the Middle Temple is a long and fascinating one. Templars held the estate of the Temple from the 12th century until their suppression in the early 14th century - thereafter the lawyers came. Its magnificent Tudor Hall depicted in the aquatint was completed in 1574.
