About the book >.>.> This last plate, London Bridge, No. 3, the twenty-seventh in the catalogue, was, perhaps, the most elaborate piece of draughtsmanship he had so far attempted with the bitten line, The Shipbuilding Yard, and Brentford Bridge being good preparations for it. But readily as Mr. Brangwyn's needle would always respond to the appeal of design in a bridge or any building with its human associations, or in a group of folk at their workaday tasks, it was no less responsive to the forms of trees with the linear intricacies of stem and branch. Studies of various trees in different surroundings he has habitually etched, and frequently a tree has been a vitally decora-tive feature in his design. An ordered cessive arrangement of poplars is the pictorial motive of A Road in Picardy, the simplicity of which we may attribute to the influence of Mr. Brangwyn's admiration for the etchings of Legros. It was only at the second thought that he changed the serene sky to a stormy one;
