A propos de cet article

Description :

Original staple-bound printed wraps 12x19cm. 11, 142pp with distribution list and contents inside wraps, complete with 5 colour folding maps bound in. Wraps very good, interiors near fine, lightly tanned, with the maps neatly folded. This is based on field notes from battles fought in North Burma, Assam, and the Arakan during September 1943 to September 1944, first circulated in India and Southeast Asia, then updated in this form. By this time, the Fourteenth Army had "fought its way clear of the mountains and jungles of North Burma and emerged to engage the Japanese in the dry zone of Central Burma" (Foreword). Chapter 1 gives a diary of key events and Fourteenth Army and Japanese plans. Chapter 2 operations in the Arakan. Chapter 3 an account of three operations including General Stilwell's advance into Burma, the Japanese drive into Assam, and 3 Indian Division's long range penetration into North Burma. Chapter 4 Japanese tactics, peculiarities and equipment. Chapter 5 lessons on attack, defence, tanks, artillery, engineers, animal management, ordnance, air supply and transport etc. The maps are of the Far East, The Fourteenth Army's lines of communication, Arakan October 1943, Burma 8 Nov 1943, and Burma 2 March 1944.
