Comes with a brand new facsimile (reproduction) dust jacket for protection and display. This book is in good minus condition. Moderate bumping and sunning to spine and around all edges of boards. Ernest Hemingway's name in front board outlined in blue pen. Previous owner's personalized sticker on front pastedown. Interior pages are bright and clean. "The Old Man and the Sea" was the final novel written and published during Hemingway's lifetime. Written in 1951, it was first published in Life magazine in the fall of 1952. The first edition was published in 1952, with a print run of 50,000 copies. "The Old Man and the Sea" is the story of an aging fisherman who sets off to end his unlucky fishing streak. What ensues is an epic battle between the fisherman and a gigantic Marlin. It is a story of strength and struggle, respect and fear, contemplation and acceptance. This novella won Ernest Hemingway the Pulitzer Prize in 1953 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954. It is a literary masterpiece written by one of America's greatest writers.
