Publisher's green cloth with silver decoration to board in colour illustrated jacket, not price clipped; pictorial enpapers. Jacket with a little marking and with loss to its edges. Binding slightly warped, with bumping and rubbing. Previous owner's name in ink to spotted endpapers, otherwise clean. The last major work of fiction Hemingway published in his lifetime, telling the story of the ageing fisherman, Santiago, and his struggle to catch a giant marlin. C. F. Tunnicliffe is known for his illustrations and artwork of British birds and wildlife, illustrating the popular 'Tarka the Otter'.
