A propos de cet article

- Octavo, 9 inches high by 5-3/4 inches wide. Softcover, bound in printed tan wrappers with reviews of the book printed on versos of the wrappers. Once bound into leather by an earlier collector with remnants of the leather spine. The wraps are soiled with minor chipping and a larger piece out from the top of the front cover affecting a slight bit of the text of the review on it's verso. [1], pages i-vi & [3]-151. The first signature (group of pages), including the front cover, are starting to pull away. The top front corners of the pages are slightly chipped. Good. Seventh edition. In this book Whiting expressed the opinion that the U. S. government had full belligerent rights against the inhabitants of seceded states, and without going beyond the Constitution could confiscate their property, emancipate their slaves, and treat them as public enemies.
