A propos de cet article

Folio sheet, folded to 8" x 10". [4] pp, blue paper. Printed on first page using different typesettings, ink signature of Shepley. Two interior pages blank, addressed on last page to "Hon. Luther Fitch Portland, Maine" with red wax seal remnant. Old folds, Very Good. John Shepley [1787-1857], became a lawyer and moved to Saco. He was the publisher of the Maine Court Reports and Reporter of Sessions in the Supreme Judicial Court of Maine from 1832 to 1841. His plea for restoration was evidently successful, because he again served in that position from 1842 to 1850. [THE AMERICAN ALMANAC AND REPOSITORY OF USEFUL KNOWLEDGE FOR THE YEAR 1858. Boston: 1857. Page 359.] Luther Fitch [1783-1870] is listed in the 1840 United States Federal Census as a judge of the Maine Municipal Court.
