A propos de cet article

Pan Kunstzeitschrift Vierteljahrlich Berlin: F. Fontane & Co, 1897 Two issues, volumes I and II, of Pan published in 1897. With a catalog of the periodical also included. The elaborately printed art nouveau journal contains many beautiful plates, printed with a variety of fantastic processes. Included are prints made by mezzotint, photogravure, collotype, lithography, etching, woodcut and letterpress made from original plates. The two issues here include artwork by Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin, Jean Dampt, Ernst Moritz Geyger, Walter Leistikow, Ludwig Von Hofmann, Artur Volkmann, Max Klinge, Wilhelm Leib, Max Liebermann, Felix Hollenberg and others. Some smaller illustrations printed by letterpress laid in with the text by Otto Eckmann, A. Endell, Felix Hollenberg, Gustave Moreau, Richard Muller, Carl Seffner and others. With essays, music and contributions from Wilhelm Micheels, Friedrich Nietzsche, Conrad Ansorge, Oskar A.H. Schmidz. Essays on Gustave Moreau, Degas, Boecklin and art in Netherlands, Belgium and Holland. A large hardcover in green cloth boards. Two volumes bound together as one. Large illustrated plates are protected with elaborately decorated cloth guards. With original periodical covers printed on a heavy marbled paper. Volume one with 67 pages. The second volume paginated from 73-135. No pages missing, it appears the publishers counted but did not number the title pages and printing credits. Some bumps to spine at the crown and foot, some wear at corners as pictured. A few minor cracks to binding as pictured here, though all pages are attached and intact. Also included is a small pamphlet printed by letterpress. Included here is a listing of artists and contributors to previous issues of Pan. With a few black and white illustrations. One color illustration by Wilhelm Volz showing Salome with the head of John the Baptist printed in two colors. Please write in for more photographs or questions. We're happy to send pictures of any plates, pages or essays.…
