Good condition. This is an unusual book. It has the original cover to The Parish Officers Library - The Vestry Clerk and Parish Lawyer (which according to the British library was published in 1843) but has been rebound with no indication of when or by whom. It is a collection of guides to the offices of the local parish but, despite having the title page for The Vestry Clerk and the Parish Lawyer, they are not present and it is instead made up of four other guides - The Constable's Guide by J N Spellen, 6th Edition, Spellen's Overseer's Assistant by R Cunningham Glen, 13th Edition, 1882, The Churchwarden's Assistant by J N Spellen and Alexander Glen, 9th Thousand, and The Highway Surveyor's Assistant by J N Spellen and Alexander Glen, 6th Edition, 1876. All are published and printed by Shaw & Sons, Fetter Lane, London. The green hardback cover is a little dingy with slight creasing to the cover corners but the black lettering is clear. The text block edges are tanned across the top but less so on the other edges, with a few marks. The text is clean and clear, apart from a few pencil annotations mainly in the Overseer and Church Warden sections. The binding is secure and there are otherwise no significant marks or damage. Given the age of the cover and contents, it is in good condition.…
