A feminist and a vegetarian, Anna Kingsford was one of the first women to work as a physician in England. Her writings explore a Christian mysticism and esotericism drawn from insights received in trance and dreams.
The contents of the book form a collection of lectures delivered by Kingsford in London before a private audience in May, June and July of 1881.

Original brown cloth with elaborate illustration in black to front, black lettering to spine, floral endpapers, wear to the cloth, corners rubbed, shelf wear to head and tail of spine, ?property of Hotel Idaho? stamped in black to the front pastedown, text block is a little shaken though the binding remains strong, some neat pencil annotations beside the text.
