The original work by Peterson portrayed the various relationships between the stress factors effecting certain products or structures and established a system for the classification of these factors. The new edition updates all of the graphics with computer-generated art that incorporates both a visual representation of the product/structure under consideration as well as the graph of the stress concentration factors. The second edition incorporates a disk containing adaptable formulas and factors. With the advent of the computer, large amounts of material on stress concentration have become available.
