A Very Good copy, beautifully bound in period full black straight-grained morocco, spine elaborately decorated with floral and geometric devices in gilt, covers have an elaborate 1.25 inch border composed of repeating devices, scrolls, and fillets in gilt and blind, gilt-tooled inner dentelles, all edges gilt (binding expertly rebacked in black morocco, preserving most of original spine; text has the occasional smidge or spotting). Complete with all 19 hand-colored aquatint plates, all with fresh and brilliant colors. Account of the campaign against Napoleon in Egypt and the Levant. Pilsbury was the Surgeon on HMS Le Tigre (74), which played a role in Sir Sydney Smith's efforts to frustrate Napoleon's grandiose ambitions. PROVENANCE: Inscription of Josiah Wilson, noting his purchase of this work in Liverpool on a trip to England in 1825, followed by his gift inscription to Susan Ellen Chamberlin in 1840; succeeded by a gift inscription dated 1915 from Susan E.
