Circa 1900. Identified as the superfine edition. States it is embellished with 16 superbly tinted plates, and the table of contents identifies these plates. However, all illustrations in this book are present but in black and white, none in color. Christian's journey from his hometown, the City of Destruction (this world), to the Celestial City (that which is to come: Heaven) atop Mount Zion. Condition notes: 548 numbered pp; HB w/o DJ. Pages: clean, ivory, tight, marbled edgestain, decorative green eps, portrait frontis, title page in red and black; a.e. sunned, front hinge cracked with crash showing, 1914 gift inscription inked to sfep. Cover: med blue cloth, black artwork + gilt titles front, gilt/black artwork + gilt titles spine; modest shelfwear, extrems moderately worn, had worn through, tiny tears to tail.
