A propos de cet article

A richly illustrated edition of Bunyan"s "Pilgrim"s Progress," with both parts in one volume, twenty engraved plates and a contemporary panelled calf binding. In a contemporary panelled calf binding, rebacked with later calf, endpapers renewed. Original endpapers loosely inserted. Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece portrait of the author and nineteen engraved plates. Collated, complete. ESTC No.: N492956. The Pilgrim"s Progress is Bunyan"s celebrated Christian allegory, following Christian"s journey from the City of Destruction towards the Celestial City and the spiritual trials, temptations and companions encountered along the way. John Bunyan (1628-1688) was an English preacher and writer whose imprisonment for unlicensed preaching provided the circumstances in which he began composing The Pilgrim"s Progress. An appealing illustrated edition of Bunyan"s enduring religious allegory. In a contemporary panelled calf binding, rebacked with later calf, endpapers renewed. Previous endpapers loosely inserted.Externally, smart. Slight rubbing to boards with the odd light scratch and scuff mark. 2pp. of ink manuscript notes to loosely inserted endpapers, dated 1913. Edge wear to loosely inserted endpapers. Slight rubbing and bumping to extremities. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean if slightly age toned with one or two very minor handling marks and spots to fore edge. Very Good Indeed.…
