A propos de cet article

October 1942 issue of the WWII-era pin-up magazine, Play Girls on Parade. Features cover photo and six-page photo-illustrated, notorious feature article of prominent Broadway performer, showgirl, and glamour model Dolores Loesch posing with used tire. Loesch appeared in Earl Carroll's Vanities of 1940 and later alongside famous burlesque star Gypsy Rose Lee. Monogram's Margie Hart, also a burlesque star nicknamed "The Poor Man's Garbo," selected here as "Play Girl of the Month," strikes a full-page provocative pose in an "Island Girl" lei and strapless gown. Other notables include Ann Corio, one of the most famous and influential burlesque stars and striptease artists of the 20th century, appearing often with Gypsy Rose Lee and starring in numerous B-movies. Corio also penned the definitive story of the burlesque art form in This Was Burlesque, published in 1968. Numerous other models appear throughout with dozens of period ads, many suggestive, and a full-page ad for William Adams Brooks' The Playboy's Handbook in Defense of the Bachelor, targeted at WWII G.I.'s playing hooky from their ladies left behind. One of the earliest and more "passed-around" publications of the war years, which blazed a publication trail from January 1942 through the mid 1940's. Surviving issues are now uncommon if not rare and, in this exceptional condition, nearly impossible to find. 68 pp. 11" x 8 1/2". Tight, unmarked copy with minimal shelf wear. An outstanding copy of a now historical WWII publication. Photographs of or additional information about this item are available on request. All inquiries answered promptly.…
