Featuring Milton's 1667 epic poem Paradise Lost, which is considered to be one of the greatest works of literature ever written, andParadise Regained. Edited with a critical memoir by William Michael Rossetti. Illustrated with plates throughout by Thomas Seccombe.Two leaves of advertisements to the series printed in facsimile and bound in to rear. In full vellum binding with titles in gilt to morocco spine label, decorative gilt tooling to spine and boards, gilt to extremities of boards, gilt to edges, new endpapers. Externally rubbed to spine and boards, with minor chipping to tail of spine. Previous owner's gift inscription to half title, dated 1875. Internally, firmly bound.
