A propos de cet article

Condition: Very Good. Hardcover with no dust jacket. Later Appleton-Century-Crofts reprint. Copyright page retains the original 1929 F. S. Crofts copyright; the exact year of this printing is not stated. Dark blue cloth hardcover with gilt spine lettering and gilt emblem on the front board. Binding remains sound, with clean endpapers and firmly attached boards. Cloth shows light rubbing, scattered scuffs and scratches, mild edge wear, and minor wear at the corners and spine ends. Page edges and interior paper show moderate age toning, but the text remains clean and readily legible. The volume includes introductions and notes, source information for individual selections, and an extensive index, with 1,068 pages of poetry and supporting material. No ownership inscription or other writing is apparent in the pages shown. Listing photos show the exact copy included in this sale. Comprehensive anthology of English Renaissance poetry spanning the Tudor through Commonwealth periods. The collection includes major poets such as John Donne, Ben Jonson, George Herbert, Sir Philip Sidney, Christopher Marlowe, Andrew Marvell, Robert Herrick, Richard Lovelace, and Sir Walter Raleigh, alongside a broad range of lesser-known writers. The selections encompass love poetry, devotional verse, pastoral and court poetry, metaphysical poetry, sonnets, political verse, and other major forms of early modern English literature. The editors deliberately omit Shakespeare, Spenser, and Milton in order to give greater representation to other poets of the period. Texts were selected from early editions and manuscripts and are supported by introductions, notes, source information, and an extensive index. The volume offers a broad survey of Renaissance poetry beyond the most familiar canonical authors.…
