Item description from seller

Twain, Mark. The Prince and the Pauper. The American Artists Edition of Mark Twain's Complete Works. Volume XXI. New York: Harper & Brothers, 1909. American Artists Edition. Small 12mo. 281 pp. One volume of larger set, though complete for this title. Original yellow cloth with red and yellow spine panel, lettered in gilt, with decorative patterned endpapers. Illustrated with a color frontispiece and decorative color title page. The copyright page states 1909, however, this American Artists Edition was issued later. Harper printing codes place the series in the late 1920s. The Prince and the Pauper, Twain's classic historical novel set in Tudor England, explores themes of identity, privilege, and social inequality through the exchange of lives between a royal heir and a common beggar. One of Twain's most enduring and widely read works, it remains a cornerstone of American juvenile and historical fiction. Condition: Contents are clean and unmarked. Binding is sound and square. Corners lightly bumped with mild wear at the spine ends. Very Good. [Attributes: Hard Cover].
