A propos de cet article

Childs, James J. Principles of Numerical Control. New York: Industrial Press, 1969. Second Edition, Sixth Printing. Octavo (9.25 x 6.25 in.), olive green cloth with gilt titles on spine and front cover, 290 pp., illustrated throughout with charts, photographs, and diagrams. A classic engineering and manufacturing reference detailing the early development, operation, and programming of numerical control (NC) systems for machine tools and automated manufacturing. Author James J. Childs, president of James J. Childs Associates, was a key industrial consultant during the rise of computer-integrated production. This expanded 1969 second edition offers a comprehensive account of NC theory, hardware, and contour programming, with examples drawn from mid-century computing systems such as IBM's SYSTEM/360 and Control Data Corporation mainframes. The work explains tape coding, part programming, servo mechanisms, feedback control, and the evolution of the APT (Automatically Programmed Tool) language, making it a cornerstone text in the history of computer-aided machining and early automation. Condition: Fine. Clean and sharp in olive green cloth with bright gilt lettering. Pages crisp, white, and unmarked; binding tight and square. No foxing, writing, or wear noted. A particularly well-preserved example of a foundational NC and CAD/CAM reference.
