A propos de cet article

(Black Interest) Quotations From Malcolm X. [No place: Stockholm?]: [Publisher not identified], circa 1969. 16mo - 5-13/16" x 4-1/16". Staple-bound black paper wrappers with title printed in red to front wrapper and a portrait of Malcolm X printed in red to back wrapper; minor rubbing and wear, plus a faint vertical crease, for what is still a very nice copy of the book. This publication, the first of its kind with quotations from Malcolm X, was most probably published in Stockholm by one of the loosely interrelated groups working for solidarity with the Black Panther movement. The Black Panther Party Solidarity Committee perceived itself as part of the Black Panther Party (BPP). It was mainly African Americans who lived abroad, who established contacts with the BPP. For a couple of years (1969-1970), the participation was intense, Swedes and Danes became very active in the movement. In 1969, Bobby Seale traveled through Sweden, Denmark and Finland, and after that, solidarity committees were set up in Stockholm and Copenhagen. In 1970, Huey P. Newton spoke at schools and universities across Scandinavia. Somewhere in these circles this pamphlet was edited and printed. In 2013, a copy surfaced in Stockholm with stamps from "B.P.P. solidarity comm." The copy offered in this listing also sourced from Sweden. The quotes in this booklet are divided into 11 sections: Waking Up; Revolution; Solidarity; Violence; We, Us, You and I; Those People, Them in America; Power; America; Press; Politics; and Negro Spokesmen. Only two copies located on OCLC/WorldCat (LIBRIS which locates it at the Swedish Labour Movements Archives and Library; Newark Public Library). The condition of the booklet is VERY GOOD. EXCEEDINGLY RARE.…
