This book on radiation oncology is in 2 volumes - Volume I covers basic and technical aspects, while Volume II provides the clinical basis of modern radiation oncology.
The chapters in the present volume concentrate on decision-making in radiation oncology; the integration of multidisciplinary approaches; clinical radiotherapy workflow, covering aims, simulation, and imaging guidelines, current techniques, and dose prescriptions; toxicities related to radiotherapy; and outcomes and survival for various human cancers. It emphasizes Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), where more than two-thirds of cancer patients would receive radiotherapy. It includes separate chapters on contemporary topics such as radiotherapy for benign diseases, the geriatric population, and emergencies; biological- and genetics-based radiation oncology; and resource-appropriate cancer management. The book is a relevant resource for busy radiation oncology physicians and trainees/residents/fellows seeking to utilize evidence in the literature to guide radiation therapy practices and multidisciplinary care for cancer patients. The book is also valuable for cancer specialists in other disciplines, such as surgical oncology, medical oncology, and palliative medicine, as well as for basic scientists engaged in cancer management, working in both developed and developing countries.
