A propos de cet article

If you research this book, you might find, as I did, that it suffers a contradiction in the booktrade. Several reviewers characterize it as "not a great novel" but heap praise on it because of its effect. Apparently, it was a novel which prompted a great deal of interesting in the desert southwest and Southen California, and also alerted a wider public to the abuses suffered by the Native Americans of the region. That might explain why some copies are being offered at very high prices, orders of magniture higher than mine. This copy of Ramona is apparently the second edition, dated 1886, which included the last chapter by one of the publisher brothers to the area of Ramona's Home and included a few sketches of the building found there. Condition: This book is in good condition. The hard covers are bumped and rubbed but nothing extreme. The gilt decorations and titles are still bright and attractive. Inside, there is a lightly inked gift inscription on the first blank page but I found no other markings in the book. The interior pages are clean and bright without toning or foxing. Page 13-14 was apparently loose (and damaged a bit on the edge where it extended beyond the text block but without affecting the text) and then reglued into the book. Both hinges are intact but the binding is cracked at page 206-207 and the sheaths now a bit misaligned. This book is not ex-library or a remaider.…
