The first edition of a pamphlet by Church of England clergyman and religious controversialist Arthur Ashley Sykes (c.1684-1756) examining the present state of legislation and related penal code concerning Catholics in England. The ongoing Jacobite Rising had led to renewed scrutiny of the reasonableness of restrictions placed upon Papists, with much discussion had as to whether existing laws ought to be more strictly enforced.
