Here is another of a small group of vintage books about astronomy that I am currently listing; this one is titled: Recreations in Astronomy with Directions for Practical Experiments and Telescopic Work, by Henry White Warren. This small hard cover book (5 ¼ x 7 ½ inches, 284 pages plus 4 star maps) was published by Harper & Brothers of New York dated 1896. The book is bound in pebbled chocolate brown boards with gilt decorations on the cover and gilt titles on the spine. Please see the List of Illustrations (of which there are 82 in the body) of the text. The book closes with the four star maps and opens with an advertisement from the publisher- Harper & Brothers for the book Popular Astronomy by Simon Newcomb (a book I will also be listing). Condition: Despite its age, this book is in very good condition. The hard covers are clean but slightly bumped at the corners and spine tips. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and figures are clean and bright without toning or foxing. There are some random and infrequent spots and specks of soiling.
