The Introduction by the folklorist Marina Warner to Andrew Lang's classic, The Red Fairy Book, is augmented further by the fact of the decorations and illustrations of Niroot Puttapipat. 2010 Second Reprint of the 2008 first appearance of the Folio Society edition and based upon the 1890 true first edition. This edition reprises 37 French, Russian, Danish, and Romanian tales as well as exemplars of Norse mythology, ranging from the better known "Rapunzel" and "Jack and the Beanstalk" to "The Voice of Death" and "Brother and Sister." Bound gobsmackingly in bright red buckram cloth over boards, and with fine gilt, olive-green, black and white illustration to front cover of a bedressed, dazzing lady, and with perhaps a bird-of-paradise perched in watch above her on a tree-branch. Illustrated endpapers front and rear on card-stock. Sixteen fine illustrations in all.
