The decision to invite Bruce Rogers to act as typographical consultant to the Cambridge University Press was taken by the Syndics in the summer of 1917, following a good deal of heart-searching about the quality of the work which was then being turned out. This is surprising because 1917 was in the middle of World War I and there probably should have been more pressing concerns. No matter. They got BR in to look at what was being done and he prepared this report, covering old face types, modern face types, display and poster founts, ornaments and initials, Monotype faces, a private type, papers, inks, binding, and a policy for the future. The Press took from it what it could and thirty-three years later printed it up in this nice edition for all to read. Now it's your turn to read it. Good with wear to edges and soiling on the back. The glue that pasted down the pastedown has created some sort of weird offsetting on the flyleaves of the front and back. It's more weird than offensive. 454. N° de réf. du vendeur 46324487913712
