Freddie Foreman's admission in this book that he was responsible for the gangland killings of Ginger Marks and Frank 'the Mad Axeman' Mitchell, who had been sprung form Dartmoor Prison by the Kray Twins, made headlines around the world. To Britain's criminal underworld, Freddie Foreman is the Godfather. His name inspires more fear than any other. 'Don't mess with Brown Bread Fred or you're dead!' Throughout his career Freddie has ruthlessly upheld the underworld code of conduct. 'The 'comeback' for those who transgressed was mercilessly applied. Freddie's chilling but often humourous account of his life is a story from the inside of how some of Britain's most famous and daring robberies were committed, of bent coppers and the criminally insane, of loyalty and betrayal, and above all, killing. Few gangsters have been as articulate in documenting their trade or understanding the importance of their actions.
