Green cloth soiled with several small dark stains, gilt stamping upon front board and spine remains vibrant, minor scuffing at spine ends, bottom board corners bumped with interior leaves lightly affected likewise. Some toning and foxing to preliminary and terminal leaves; past owner's modern green ink signature on front pastedown; some soiling and smudges at fore-edge margins of first several leaves; rear free endpaper creased. Features brief poetry by James Whitcomb Riley with leaves having ornamental floral border decorations by Franklin Booth and stunning color portrait drawings by Howard Chandler Christy.
