DJ has some wear and soiling. For the past several years,Myer Kutz has focused on developing engineering handbooks and encyclopedias on a wide range of technical topics, such as mechanical, materials, biomedical, transportation, and environmentally conscious engineering. Earlier, his firm supplied consulting services to a large client roster, including Fortune 500 companies, scientific societies, and publishers. The firm published two major multi-client studies, "The Changing Landscape for College Publishing" and "The Developing Worlds of Personalized Information." Kutz held a number of positions at Wiley, including acquisitions editor, director of electronic publishing, and vice president for scientific and technical publishing. He holds engineering degrees from MIT and RPI and worked in the aerospace industry. In addition to his edited reference works, he is the author of eight books, including, most recently, "In the Grip", a psychological mystery, and earlier"Temperature Control", published by Wiley, "Rockefeller Power", published by Simon and Schuster. Derived from a Kirkus review: In this careful, provocative work, Kutz presents the five brothers whose interests are power and profit through philanthropy. The Rockefellers, Kutz charges, have been corrupted by their own sense of paternalism and increasingly their use of power -- the public has not been served by recent projects such as Lincoln Center or the incredibly expensive Albany Mall in New York's capital, nor has the environment been protected by Rockefeller support of controversial hydroelectric power plants, express-ways, etc. Yet how and where foundation money is spent -- Kutz examines the various interlocking funds -- and why has consequences for all of us, from the ghetto to the museum. Ego and profits, Kutz notes, intrude into the Rockefeller construction of a "Garden of Eden" for us, which we're to inhabit whether we like it or not -- because whatever the family decides is good for us inevitably profits them.
