You're in for an exciting ride as incendiary writer Charlie Rider and the unforgettable Zadie Byrd Gray rise to meet the political challenges flung at them from all sides. Freedom and equality loom just out of reach as the outraged corporate oligarchy scrambles to take back power after the Dandelion Insurrection's successful nonviolent revolution. Everyone from schoolteachers to whistleblowers leaps into action to help them confront the forces of corrupt politics. But the struggle turns volatile when an armed group called the Roots shows up. They claim to be protecting the movement . . . but who do they really serve?Author Rivera Sun's novels are compared to the works of George Orwell, Upton Sinclair, Mark Twain and Barbara Kingsolver. She weaves social protest with the practical and inspiring field of nonviolent struggle, drawing on the legacy of King, Gandhi, Chavez, and countless more. As fiery as Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Chris Hedges and more radical than Bernie Sanders, Rivera Sun's fiction is the perfect companion through the wild ride of our times Some Reviews. If you loved Starhawk's Fifth Sacred Thing, if you loved recently-departed Ursula K. LeGuin's The Dispossessed, if you admire the spirit of the Standing Rock Water Protectors, you will drink in this must-read page-turner . . . an epic story that will move your spirit, bringing tears to your eyes and healing to your soul. - Rosa Zubizarreta, Author of From Conflict to Creative CollaborationA tale of revolution, resistance and the indomitable power of love . . . skims tantalizingly close to the surface of what could be political reality in these United States in just a few short years. À propos de l’auteur
Rivera lives in an earthship house in Taos, New Mexico, where she grows tomatoes and bakes sourdough bread in an adobe oven. She has red hair, a twin sister, and a fondness for esoteric mystics. Everything else about her - except her writing - is perfectly ordinary.
She is the best-selling author of four other social protest novels, The Dandelion Insurrection, Billionaire Buddha, The Way Between and Steam Drills, Treadmills and Shooting Stars, as well as nine theatrical plays, three books of poetry, and a study guide to making change through nonviolent civil action.
For five years, Rivera was the cohost of Occupy Radio and Love and Revolution Radio, and cofounded two nationwide nonviolent study and action group networks. She is the past Program Director for Pace e Bene/Campaign Nonviolence. Her essays on social justice are syndicated by Peace Voice and have appeared in hundreds of magazines. She has crossed the country many times speaking and teaching workshops on writing, social, environmental and economic justice and the role of strategic nonviolent civil resistance.
She went to Bennington College to study writing as a Harcourt Scholar and graduated with a degree in dance. After six years working as a professional playwright, choreographer, and director in the San Francisco Bay Area, she founded the nationally touring Rising Sun Dance & Theater company. In 2010, Rivera Sun wrote and performed a trilogy of solo theater shows entitled The Freedom Stories of Lala that received coast-to-coast standing ovations.
Rivera loves to hear from readers and is easy to contact on Twitter, Facebook or through her website at riverasun.com
