Rudimentary Electricity: Being a Concise Exposition of the General Principles of Electrical Science, and the Purposes to Which it has been Applied. By Sir W. Snow Harris and printed in London by John Weale. 1848, 160 pp, 7 x 4.25 , 18mo, softcover paper binding. In as-is condition, with the covers detached and the text block broken into multiple pieces, primarily towards the end of the book. Loss of paper binding on spine. Ex-library from Knox College, with a stamp at the front of the book. Filled with periodic black-and-white illustrations throughout. General age-related toning to pages. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce early scientific book on electricity that would make a fantastic candidate for restoration or rebinding. No titling to the spine as issued. Hardback with decorative, blind-stamped boards. Black printed paper Title label to upper board (VG) and 'Price 10d'. Covers generally Good Plus to VG minus - a few marks and with some small loss to the head and foot of the spine - loss now coloured in to match and hardly noticable as the covers are now in a new protective clear - removable - bookfilm plastic cover and look Very Good overall. Page fore-edges 'toned' as usual with age and the dust of well over one and a half centuries! Front inner hinge splitting but sound. Internally (4) + (iv) + 160 pp. Publisher's single sheet, lists of books in this series, pasted on to the front and rear pastedowns - stating on the rear list "In preparation, to be published early in 1849." . Endpapers plain lemon. 1848 at the foot of the Title page and Preface by the author dated 1848. NO Inscriptions or any marks that I can see. Black and white line drawn full page Frontispiece, together with b/w line and monotone illustrations in the text. "Sir William Snow Harris (1791-1867) was a British physician and electrical pioneer and researcher, and noted for his invention of a successful system of lightning conductors for ships." .
