A propos de cet article

Octavo. Reverend Anthony Binga Jr., the son of escaped slaves who fled to Canada, returned to the States to teach in the Reconstruction era South. As pastor of the First Baptist Church in Richmond for forty seven years, he supported the African American community and bolstered educational opportunities as well. Professor J. E. Jones was a slave until Lee surrendered. He went on to get his degree and teach at the Richmond Theological Seminary, premier school for African American Baptist preachers in the 19th century South. Both Jones and Binga are important individuals who courageously fought prejudice and lack of opportunity to help their community thrive in a new chapter in American history. This copy has sound binding with very slight superficial separation of front hinge at title page; small (1/4") closed tear to edge of page one. No markings in text. Boards protected in a hand-cut mylar cover. near Very Good binding / no dust jacket. N° de réf. du libraire 259656
