The first monograph on ?udovít Fulla (1902?1980), the Slovak painter and graphic artist. Fulla's work was crucial to the development of Slovakmodernism. His style is marked by a special ?poetry of the image? and relies on surface and decoration, a synthesis of rational and emotional elements, the idiosyncratic use of color, a knowledge of the folk tradition, Slavic iconography and international modernist tendencies. He was notably inspired by thePrague modernistmilieu, but Kandinsky, Chagall, Picasso and Kleehave all left traces in his works, as well. With an introduction in Slovak by Vladimír Wagner and a resume in French. Design and typo by the artist. One of 500 copies, this copy unnumbered.
