A propos de cet article

300 pp. of B/W illustrations and 58 pp. of text. Cover is curled, stained, scratched, creased and torn at the upper spine. The interior is clean with some thumb creases on the outer edge of the first few pages and a long dog-ear on page LVII. Catalogue of an exhibition transferred from the Galleria Civica d'Arte Moderna, Turin, and the Amici Torinesi dell'Arte Contemporanea to the Art Gallery of Ontario, where it was exhibited from November 1 to 26, 1969. Professor Robert Rosenblum points out in the catalogue to the latter, 'One important way in which we can break through the traditionally hostile barriers that separate the 19th century's progressive and conservative artists is by thinking of their work in terms of the kinds of subject or theme that often preoccupied both the most hide-bound member of academic officialdom and the most Bohemian of anti-establishment rebels - a Delaroche and a Gauguin'." - Mario Amaya, Curator, Art Gallery of Ontario in his introductory note.
