Saying Goodbye to Madar teaches young children about loved ones and death through the heartwarming story of a four-year-old girl named Delarai. Delara is very close to her great-grandmother, Madar. She loves visiting Madar every Saturday and enjoys eating Shirin Polo prepared by her.
On one Saturday, Delarai sees her mother weeping. She comes to know about Madar’s passing away. Delarai doesn’t understand the meaning of death and she wants to say goodbye to Madar personally. Her father consoles her saying that she can wish goodbye to her great grandmother at the funeral. On the way back, she misses Madar but at the same time, she feels happy to have such a loving family.
Delarai’s mother teaches her to make Shirin Polo. Delarai volunteers to cut and peel carrots. The aroma of Shirin Polo fills the house. This reminds Delarai of her great-grandmother. She feels content knowing that Madar will remain in her heart forever.
