DESCRIPTION: Small octavo, Pagination XV, [1] 331, [1] with an engraved frontispiece and extra engraved title with vignette by Greatbatch. Bound in c1880-1890 in pale olive polished buckram cloth, with red leather label to spine. CONDITION: Binding slightly rubbed and with slight wear to the upper joint. One leaf is re-inserted and slightly frayed to the fore-edge. Minor foxing only to the Frontispiece and extra title page. Else a very good. clean copy. A nice example of this early edition. FURTHER COMMENTS: Early edition of Austen's notably famous first novel published in 1811, presented here in Bentley's Standard Novel Series with an anonymous memoir of Jane Austen at the front. Bentley had first issued this edition in 1833 and it was both the first one volume edition and the first illustrated edition and third only to the first edition of 1811. SIZE: 166 x 109mm CONDITION: Binding slightly rubbed and with slight wear to the upper joint. One leaf is re-inserted and slightly frayed to the fore-edge.
