A propos de cet article

1987 Weidenfeld & Nicolson hardcover edition. Some reading wear else good condition. Harry Daley was a London policeman. A masterly story-teller, Daley also gives lively and often amusing accounts of the people he dealt with in his work - costers and small-time criminals (amongst who he acquired lovers and close friends), Soho prostitutes, Wandsworth gypsies and local eccentrics, like the man who was convinced he was a number 11 bus. Daley’s entertaining and sensitive autobiography, which gives us not only an engaging self-portrait but also an important historical document, is introduced by P. N. Furbank, the biographer of E. M. Forster, and has an Afterword by Clive Emsley, historian of the police.…
